besides that you need a tripod, this is essential as shutter times are pretty long
i usually start out in manual exposure ode with a shutter time of 3 secs, Aperture of 6.3 and iso 400. then i generally work from there until i get satisfactory pictures. sometimes i go to iso 800 but never higher.
do custom white balance and use a reference shot of some sunbathed grass (its white in IR). and just test
somehow it can focus automatically which is a great help, but sometimes i need to shift the focus manually slightly to the longer end, because of the focus shift in IR spectrum.
but it takes a while to get a hang of it.
