Wow! Your IR pictures are great. Coincidentally I just bought a 350d and I'm thinking of getting into this kind of thing. What equipment do you use to make these? Any tips with using the 350d to make IRs?

My 350D hasn't been ir converted, so i'm using a Hoya R72 filter on my Canon 17-85 IS lens - but you can just get whatever r72 filter that fits your preferred lens.
besides that you need a tripod, this is essential as shutter times are pretty long

i usually start out in manual exposure ode with a shutter time of 3 secs, Aperture of 6.3 and iso 400. then i generally work from there until i get satisfactory pictures. sometimes i go to iso 800 but never higher.

do custom white balance and use a reference shot of some sunbathed grass (its white in IR). and just test

somehow it can focus automatically which is a great help, but sometimes i need to shift the focus manually slightly to the longer end, because of the focus shift in IR spectrum.

but it takes a while to get a hang of it.

Thanks for the tips. I'm probably going to get an r72 in august. From what I read it sounds like the best thing to do is just practice and mess around until I get it.

thats what i did. i did buy a book though. i recommend it if you're interested. "Complete Guide To Digital Infrared Photography". it's a bit easier to read and more thorough than the various tutorials you can find online

WOW. Have you heard about how Google wants to make all books available for free on the internet? I didn't know they already started. Well, google books lives, I searched for that book title and the first result was this- [link]

Is this the right book? Man, I could get used to this free books on the internet thing...

dang... it's not the whole book. just like 20 select pages from it. Oh well, it's a good preview at least with a few tips.
